I’m Lowie van der Grinten,

a photographer based in the Netherlands. My usual photoshoots vary from the biggest (inter)national artists, models, theaters, fashion brands and hiphop-labels, to local upcoming artists, and my own creative projects.

I’ve always been intruiged by the visual aspects of life but only when I bought my first camera, I realized that thing was photography. I finally found something to which I wanted to dedicate all my extra time. It was the first time I experienced this type of intrinsic motivation and my mindset changed a lot. After watching countless hours of tutorials, informational videos, and studying night after night on my own - I started to be confident in my skills. These skills came in handy when I started my internship at the biggest Dutch hip hop-platform, 101Barz. There I started taking pictures of one of the key elements in my life: hip-hop. 101Barz had never had a photographer before, so I said, “why not me”? From that moment I started to build my network in the Dutch hip-hop scene while continuously improving my skills and building my network.

Fast forward to now: I’ve graduated on a thesis about drill music for my Masters in Entrepreneurship and Management in the Creative Industries at UVA, I am now the in-house photographer at 101Barz, and I’m still growing as a photographer and an artist. Growing as an artist is what my life revolves around right now, while doing my with amazing people from all kinds of industries, and continuing to execute my own projects within the (inter)national hip-hop and urban communities, but also focussing a lot on my own creative work.

One thing I’ve heard many times; people don’t just like my work, they also really like to work with me. I’m relaxed, there is no pressure when we take pictures and I want to go the extra mile to create something amazing with my clients. I’m always looking to collaborate with new artists and people across communities to showcase new work and talent.
